This is a hololith ring fully carved from natural jadeite. The jadeite material has good translucency which creates an interesting appearance with the black, monochrome coloured jadeite.
Parts of the jadeite ring display a darker, more opaque black colour while in other parts, the translucency creates beautiful patterns of black which blends beautifully with the rest of the ring. A striking trait of this abacus jadeite ring is a splash of green that decorates part of the ring.
This hololith ring is carved with a relatively larger broadness. These type of jadeite abacus rings are widely known as 扳指 in Chinese. These rings were traditionally used in archery and worn on the thumb as a form of protection.
