This bracelet is made up of 15 black jade beads. These jade beads are Type A jadeite and are made from a single raw jade stone which gives the jade bead bracelet a consistent hue and jadeite quality. The jade material differs from that of Omphacite jade which tends to be evenly black throughout. The white patches on the jade beads are areas that are more translucent. The different levels of translucency also results in an overall grey hue of the jade bracelet.
In Feng Shui, black is typically associated with the water element. Black jade is popularly used in Feng Shui practices as a powerful shield against negative energies or 辟邪 in Chinese.
In addition to the black jadeite beads, a 24K gold "pixiu" carving is strung together with the jade beads. 24K or 24 Karat gold is the purest form of gold and is typically found as 99.9 per cent pure gold. Pure gold has a bright yellow colour. The "pixiu" carving is intricate and has a matte surface for its body with polished accents on several locations such as the Chinese word 财 which is carved on the belly of the "pixiu". The word 财 translates to wealth and riches and it is aptly carved on the mythical creature's belly, signifying the wealth consumed or accumulated by the creature. The "pixiu" or 貔貅 is a creature regarded in Chinese mythology as an auspicious symbol, for its ability in bringing in wealth to its owner and warding off bad luck.
