In this pair of carved jadeite earrings, the carving is of a symbol that is known as an Eternity Knot. The name of this knot is because there is no end to the knot itself and forms an endless loop by itself. This symbol has many other names, such as the Mystic Knot, and is used symbolically in many ancient cultures. In Asian culture, the symbol of the Eternity Knot is also connected to long life, harmony, and continuity.
This pair of carved jadeite makes use of a highly translucent bluish green jadeite material. The glossy texture of the jadeite is put to good effect in this pair of jadeite carving to accentuate the smooth bevelled surface of the Eternity Knot symbols. Each jadeite carving has its surface carefully bevelled and polished to create a three-dimensional look that glistens in the light.
