This is a jadeite pendant which has been intricately carved into the cloud-like designs that adorn a traditional Ru Yi scepter. In this particular jade carving, the craftsmanship is exceptional. The classical Ruyi carving usually has sweeping smooth lines to represent the cloud like ornament. This jadeite pendant has additional carvings that accentuate the vivid and clear green portions of the jadeite material to bring out the contrasting colours and beautiful translucency. In particular, sitting on top of the Ruyi carving, is a 3-legged frog carving. In Feng Shui, this 3-legged frog is known as a "Money Toad" or 蟾蜍, and it is a mythical creature that symbolises prosperity and monetary wealth.
The jade pendant is carved from natural Type A jadeite and has not been enhanced. Beautiful green jadeite parts are found in the raw jade material which has allowed the carving to take such intricate designs. The base colour of the jade pendant is a light translucent green while the green parts that highlight the pendant are of a bright and lively green hue. The crystal aggregates in this pendant are dense and fine which gives this pendant a polished look that resembles the dewy finish in fine colourless jadeite.
The main photos are taken in natural lighting and there are 2 additional photos taken with indoor lighting. This is to give a perspective of how the pendant will look like indoors.
