Safety coins or 平安扣 carvings are derived from Chinese traditions. These jade carvings crafted as safety coin are usually worn to protect the wearer against ill fortunes. Fine jadeite safety coins are also a symbol of wealth and nobility and are thus worn, kept and passed down families from generation to generation as family heirlooms.
The green hue found in this Type A jadeite pendant has varying degrees of saturation which forms a natural and beautiful pattern of monochromatic green hues. Despite its good colour saturation, translucency of the jadeite material is good and can be observed easily in the areas with lesser saturations of green within the pendant.
