Safety coins or 平安扣 carvings are derived from Chinese traditions. These jade carvings crafted as safety coin are usually worn to protect the wearer against ill fortunes. Fine jadeite safety coins are also a symbol of wealth and nobility and are thus worn, kept and passed down families from generation to generation as family heirlooms.
Colour gradients in natural jadeite are unique and when carved well, bring out different kinds of effects in the finished jadeite carving. This jadeite safety coin carving has a milky white base colour with a splash of bright green at the base of the jade pendant. The swirling pattern of green contrasts the milky white jadeite and gives the pendant a vibrant, lively appearance.
The jade pendant hook is set in 18K gold and designed as a stalk of flower. A single leaf featured on the pendant hook is set in warm yellow gold while the rest of the flower stalk is set in white gold. Natural diamonds cover the flower petals for a bright sparkly finish.
The main photos are taken in natural lighting and there are 2 additional photos taken with indoor lighting. The indoor photos seek to give an accurate representation of how the jade pendant appears in different lighting.
Jadeite is Type A and has no treatments applied.
