This is a bamboo inspired jadeite ring set in 18K white gold. The design makes use of 2 highly translucent jadeite bamboo leaf carvings set upon a white gold ring designed as a single node of a bamboo shoot. A smaller leaf, embellished in natural diamonds, sits at an angle to the 2 jadeite leaf carvings.
The design is modern with its use of icy black jadeite. The pair of jadeite leaves has high translucency with streaks of black aesthetically spread out within the jadeite material. The jadeite leaves have a good thickness and this adds a three-dimensional appearance to the streaks of inky black on the otherwise purely colourless jadeite.
In traditional Chinese culture, bamboo carvings symbolise "a steady rise to eminence", especially in career aspects or 节节高 in Chinese. As such, bamboo carvings are very auspicious and are often seen in classic jade jewellery.
