This jadeite necklace is crafted with a classic jade carving in the shape of a barrel. The round and cylindrical barrel has a more contemporary shape with both ends of the carving completely flush with plane surfaces. The jadeite cylinder has a hole in the middle conforming to the traditional jadeite barrel carving.
This jade barrel is carved from a colourless jadeite material with no visible impurities. A bright splash of green decorates one end of the jadeite barrel with the vivid contrast in colour blending beautifully to white. The natural jadeite has good translucency which lends a frosty, icy appearance in the jadeite carving.
Barrel shaped jadeite carvings are known as Lu Lu Tong or 路路通 in Chinese. Its hollow barrel shape signifies a clear and unblocked path without obstacles. The Chinese words 路路通 also directly translates to unobstructed paths, at every turn.
