This is an icy translucent Type A jadeite carved into the shape of a gourd. Gourd carvings are auspicious symbols in Chinese culture. They are typically used to ward off negative energies and misfortunes. Gourds also symbolise happiness and wealth.
This particular jadeite pendant has very minimal carvings applied to the raw jadeite material. This is possible due to the clarity and translucency of the jadeite material which requires minimal removal of material. The icy body has a bottom which has a beautiful light green hue giving the pendant an artistic feel with the interesting dash of green.
