This Type A jade pendant is in the carving of a single leaf. In Feng Shui, different carvings are worn for different purposes. Leaf carvings are usually used in Feng Shui to improve one's career or work related aspects of one's life. In Chinese, leaves are called 叶子 which sounds closely similar to the Chinese word for career 事业. Wearing a good carving of a leaf therefore symbolises a good career or business.
Fine jadeite materials are more easily found in smaller quantities or sizes. Usually thinner jadeite material will also mean less material for light to pass through and thus a higher translucency. Thus, thick jadeite jewellery with high levels of translucency are much rarer and indicate much higher quality of the jadeite material than a similar jade jewellery with thinner material. This leaf carving is an example of a jade piece with good thickness and yet maintaining high levels of translucency. The lustre of the polished finish complements the obvious glow within the colourless jadeite material allowing the pendant to be worn beautifully against one's skin.
