This icy jadeite pendant is carved in the classic shape of a "safety coin". Safety coins or 平安扣 carvings are derived from Chinese traditions. These jade carvings are symbolically worn as a protection against ill fortunes. Jadeite safety coins carved from fine jadeite material are also a symbol of wealth and nobility. Jadeite is an incredibly hardy material and a fine jadeite piece can be worn, kept and passed down families from generation to generation as family heirlooms.
The icy jadeite material in this classic jade pendant is set with an elegant 18K white gold clasp encrusted in natural diamonds. The diamonds lend a sparkly touch to the icy lustre of the jadeite carving. Worn against skin, the high translucency of the jadeite material can be seen clearly. The translucency and fine crystal aggregates in the jadeite also result in a faint shimmery glow that can be seen whilst the pendant is worn.
The main photos are taken in natural lighting and there are 2 additional photos taken with indoor lighting to give an accurate representation of the colour of the jadeite.
Do note that the gold necklace shown in the photos is for illustration purposes only. This product is sold without any necklace.
