This is an icy jadeite pendant with the classic jadeite carving of a "safety coin" (平安扣). The natural jadeite is almost completely colourless. A combination of high translucency and fine crystal aggregates creates a shimmery glow that emanates from within the jadeite "safety coin". Carved as a "safety coin", the smooth dome shape accentuates this icy glow.
Soft, cotton-like flakes of white can be seen "floating" within the jadeite carving, having the effect of drifting snow, suspended in the jadeite. This beautiful appearance of "drifting snow" is visible because of the high translucency and watery texture of the jadeite carving.
The pendant is set in 18k white gold, with a pendant hook embellished with natural diamonds in different shapes. The channel of sparkly diamonds tapers in size elegantly from the top of the pendant hook to the center hole in the jadeite "safety coin" carving.
