Fine jadeite is often associated with a watery lustre due to high translucency, good clarity and a saturated colour. The variance usually only lies in the last characteristic, colour. In this particular pair of fine Type A jadeite cabochon earrings, the colour hue displayed is an intense and pure orange. High translucency combined with a saturated colour, gives jade cabochons a mesmerising look since light is able to penetrate the jadeite material allowing the colour to radiate outwards. Due to the layered crystal structure of jadeite, jade cabochons are able to display an aqueous lustre when found with sufficient colour saturation and translucency.
