This is an Emerald ring that features an un-oiled 1.17CT Emerald as its centrepiece, set in 18K white gold and beautifully adorned with natural diamonds. The diamonds used in this ring have been exquisitely set to bring out the glow in the Emerald gemstone by featuring a layered design around the Emerald, allowing the ring to display beautifully from all angles.
Emeralds are known and loved for their pure green hues. This Emerald has a bright green hue which has a fluorescent effect in natural lighting. The colour is perhaps described as neon-like and even in indoor lighting, its neon green colour remains vivid and brilliant.
As 1 of the 3 main precious gemstones, Emeralds are a green variety of the mineral Beryl. A distinguishing feature of Emeralds is the usual presence of moss-like inclusions, “Jardin”, within the Emerald. These are commonly found in Emeralds and not only do they cause Emeralds to be brittle, these inclusions greatly affect the brilliance in Emeralds. As a result, oil is often added to Emeralds as a clarity enhancement. Oil is able to seep into the inclusions and fill up these inclusions, thereby reducing the visibility of these inclusions in any Emerald. Almost all Emeralds are subjected to oil enhancements and only the clearest Emeralds do not require such clarity enhancements, thereby leading to their extraordinary rarity.
