This is a Type A jade pendant in the carving of a Ru Yi (如意). A Ru Yi is a decorative object in Chinese culture symbolising fortune and power. Traditionally, a Ru Yi is designed as a scepter with one end with cloud-like carvings. The carvings on this jade pendant are derived from these cloud-like designs that adorn a traditional Ru Yi scepter.
This carving is also commonly seen in Feng Shui ornaments for good prosperity and fortunes. Ru Yi in Chinese literally means "as desired". In context, it has an auspicious meaning which is to allow its wearer to achieve one's wishes.
The jadeite used in this Ru Yi pendant has a saturated violet hue in parts of the jadeite material. The hue is similar to lavender jadeite but carries a deeper blue tone bringing it closer to a violet hue. A small dash of green in the center of the Ru Yi pendant adds an interesting design to the pendant.
